Bears' Brisker: I'll continue to play 'same way' despite concussions 616a4l

"I'm going to continue to play the same way," Brisker told reporters Wednesday.

He's been diagnosed with a concussion in each of his three NFL seasons. Most recently, he sustained one from a collision with Carolina Panthers tight end Tommy Tremble in Week 5 last season. The injury kept Brisker out for the rest of the campaign.

Tremble, who was also concussed on the play, was fined by the league for lowering his helmet to initiate with Brisker.

Brisker said his long recovery was difficult, as his symptoms persisted to the point that he had to see a specialist from the University of Pittsburgh. He said he leaned on his teammates during that time, particularly veterans Montez Sweat and Kevin Byard.

"It was hard being away from football, especially week-to-week," Brisker said. "It was kind of sad, depressing, things like that. But I got over it. It's time to move on. I'm back now."

The 26-year-old said he didn't consider retirement this offseason, and it never came up when talking to his family. Brisker added that he's not worried about his long-term health.

"I'm just focused on playing ball," he said.

Chicago drafted Brisker in the second round in 2022. He ranked second on the Bears in tackles as a rookie and finished third in '23.
