Ravens GM: Lamar extension talks at 'introductory' stage 3s1b5e

General manager Eric DeCosta revealed the two sides engaged in contract talks before and during the draft and as recently as last week.

"I think we're in the introductory sort of stage of looking at what an extension might look like," DeCosta said on the "BMore Baseball Podcast," according to team reporter Kevin Eck.

The Ravens handed Jackson a five-year, $260-million contract in 2023, which made him the NFL's highest-paid player at the time. New quarterback deals have slid the two-time league MVP down the rankings. Dak Prescott is currently the highest-paid QB with an average annual value of $60 million, while Jackson is 10th with a $52-million AAV. Other ers ahead of Jackson include Tua Tagovailoa ($53.1 million), Jared Goff ($53 million), and Brock Purdy ($53 million).

Jackson has been in the MVP conversation in each of the last two years while playing some of the best football of his career. He won the award in 2023 and finished as runner-up to Josh Allen last season after throwing for 41 touchdowns to eight interceptions with a league-best 119.6 er rating. He also rushed for 915 yards and four scores in 2024.
