Report: Real Madrid blocking Ancelotti's deal with Brazil l1q27

Real Madrid are blocking the proposed deal that would see manager Carlo Ancelotti depart the club in order to take over the Brazilian national team, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported Tuesday. 2d1i2u

It was reported Monday that an agreement was reached in principle between the Italian bench boss and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) for Ancelotti to start his role as Selecao coach in June.

But Real Madrid were never directly informed of the deal, according to Romano, who added that the CBF won't sit around long and wait for clarity on the situation. Al-Hilal manager Jorge Jesus reportedly remains an option for Brazil if the Ancelotti operation falls apart.

ESPN reported Sunday that Ancelotti and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez would meet this week to discuss a potential exit. The expectation ahead of the summit was that a mutual agreement would allow the coach to leave after Madrid's last game of the La Liga season May 25, prior to this summer's Club World Cup.

As of Monday night, the CBF expected Ancelotti to be in Rio de Janeiro on May 26, sources told ESPN's Pedro Ivo Almeida and Victoria Leite.

Ancelotti's contract with Los Blancos runs until 2026, but he's been tipped as the next manager of Brazil's men's national team for several months. Ancelotti has reportedly been the preferred choice of CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues ever since Tite stepped down as Brazil's coach after the 2022 World Cup.

Brazil, yet to officially qualify for the 2026 World Cup, has been looking for a permanent head coach since firing Dorival Junior in March.
