Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts is expected to be out of the starting lineup for the last two games of the club's series against the New York Yankees with a fractured toe. 92r14

"I was just going to the bathroom in the dark and hit my toe on a wall," Betts said, according to Dylan Hernandez and Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.

Manager Dave Roberts said Saturday Betts is having issues putting on a shoe due to the fracture, which occurred at the tip of one of his toes, according to Dodger Insider. The team is hopeful that Betts will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list and is considering him day-to-day. He could be available to pinch hit at some point this weekend.

"I don't expect an IL," Roberts said after Friday's game. "We'll probably have him down for the series and hopefully he'll be available to hit in a big spot. And then we'll kind of see. But I think for me right now it's just day-to-day."

Miguel Rojas started at shortstop in Friday's win over the Yankees with Betts unable to play. Hyeseong Kim drew into the lineup at shortstop for Saturday's game.

Betts, 32, is hitting .254 with eight home runs, 31 RBIs, and five stolen bases in 53 games so far this season.
